Who We Are
We’re your neighbors, advocates, and partners in fire safety.
The Shasta County Fire Safe Council is a community-driven organization dedicated to reducing wildfire risks and promoting fire safety throughout the county. We empower residents with the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to protect their homes, families, and neighborhoods. From free chipping programs to wildfire protection plans, we’re working together to create a safer, more resilient Shasta County.
Who We Serve
From the mountains to the valleys, we’ve got Shasta County covered.
We proudly serve the diverse communities of Shasta County. Whether you live in the heart of Redding, the rural outskirts, or anywhere in between, our programs, like the free curbside chipping service and Firewise recognition, are designed to make fire safety accessible to everyone in our region.
What We Do
We turn fire safety into action.
The Shasta County Fire Safe Council offers a range of programs and resources to help residents prepare for and prevent wildfires. Here’s how we help make a difference:

Free Chipping Program
Clearing hazardous fuels is critical to wildfire prevention. Our no-cost chipping service helps residents create defensible space by processing overgrown brush and vegetation, reducing the need for pile burning or hauling debris.

Firewise Communities
We support neighborhoods in achieving Firewise recognition to improve safety and resilience. This recognition can lead to potential insurance discounts and access to grants for home hardening and defensible space.
Why We Do It
Protecting Shasta County from wildfires starts with all of us.
Wildfires don’t just destroy landscapes. They threaten lives, homes, and the heart of our community. That’s why we’re passionate about what we do. Every acre cleared, every property made safer, and every resident educated brings us closer to a fire-safe future. Together, we can reduce risks, protect what matters, and ensure Shasta County thrives for generations to come.
